TigerSharks Parent Volunteer Jobs
Parent involvement is both a necessity and requirement
for a successful swim team.
Each family is expected to volunteer for a minimum
of 20 hours.
Below is a description of each job. Your participation
is vital to a successful season.
We cannot do it without you. We need your support
and look forward to working with you!

Families will have the ability to log on to our
team page for
registration of their volunteer positions for
all swim meets.
Job Descriptions
Jobs are typically
scheduled in one half meet increments unless otherwise
specified.

TIMER |
A team of three
timers determines
the time for each
racer using stop-watches.
Each team provides
half the timers
for each home and
away meet. Timers
must keep their
cell phones turned
off during the meet. |

RUNNER |
Collects race
results from timers
and delivers to
scoring table. |

SCORING |
Computer entry
and/or verifying
times for each race. |

RIBBONS |
Placing labels
of swimmer results
on award ribbons. |
|
HOSPITALITY |
Serve refreshments
to workers, officials
and coaches during
home meets. |
|
READY BENCH |
Checks in and
organizes swimmers
at the Ready Bench
prior to each race. |
|
AGE GROUP PARENT |
Responsible
for supervising
swimmers in the
age group tent.
Responsible for
gathering swimmers
before an event
and getting them
to the Ready Bench.
Number of parents
assigned to this
job varies by age
group and the job
is typically done
for the entire meet.
Note: Parents still
retain ultimate
responsibility for
their children and
must be present
at the meet. |

STROKE & TURN |
A team of two
judges observes
swimmers in the
assigned lanes during
races to ensure
strokes and turns
are done correctly.
Requires attendance
at training clinic
in May. |

STARTER |
Responsible
for starting each
race and assisting
stroke and turn
judges during relay
races. Requires
attendance at training
clinic in May. |

SET UP |
Arrives early
at both home and
away meets to set
up necessary equipment. |

CLEAN UP |
Assists with
putting away equipment
after home and away
meets. |
|
SNACK BAR |
Home meets only.
Set up, sales, and
clean up for snack
bar. |
|
PROGRAMS |
Assists in preparation
of programs for
copying. Sells programs
and associated items
during home meets. |
|
TEAM STORE |
Set up, sales,
and clean up of
team sales (i.e.
shirts, team related
items) during home
meets and at championships. |
